Article l: Name - The name of the organization is the Los Angeles County Unity Coalition.
Section 1 - Affiliation: The Los Angeles County Unity Coalition is a member of the Unity Coalition of S. California, headed by the Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition of San Diego, California.
Section 2 - Mission: Our mission is to end human trafficking in Los Angeles County by uniting and empowering communities to locate those victimized by modern day slavery and restore their dignity and human rights.
Section 3 - Non-Discrimination Policy: This organization and its members shall not discriminate against anyone for reasons of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, age, disability, or of status as Vietnam-era or special disabled veterans.
Section 4 - Code of Ethics: The organization shall maintain a Code of Ethics. Membership requires agreement with these provisions.
Article II: Membership - There shall be two categories of membership (1) Individual (2) Organizational, together known as the Full Membership.
Article III: Organizational Representative - The official organizational representative shall be known as the Chair.
Article IV: Meetings of the Organization - There shall be 12 meetings, one per month, yearly, of the organization.
Article V: Method of Amending Charter: Proposals, Notice, and Voting Requirements - Proposed amendments must be in writing, read in the general meeting in which they are proposed, and be read again at one subsequent general meeting and the general meeting in which the votes will be taken. Passage requires a two-thirds majority of voting member present at the meeting.
Article I: Conduct of Meetings - Meetings shall be governed by “Roberts’ Rules of Order,” and such rules may be revised from time to time, insofar as such rules are not inconsistent with or in conflict with these Bylaws.
Article II: Membership Qualifications - Members shall be deemed members after completing the Membership Application and signifying agreement with the organizational Code of Ethics.
Article lll: Rights of Membership - Members shall have the right to attend monthly meetings, to serve on committees and task forces of the LACUC, to receive publications and newsletters/emails and to participate in LACUC activities and programs.
Article IV: Meetings - General meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month.
Article V: Appointment of Organizational Leadership - The Chair is selected through a proposal process submitted to the Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition and subject to approval by the Department of Health & Human Services. The Chair may change from time to time, but the BSCC and the Department of Health & Human Services shall have the final authority on the selection of the incoming Chair.
Article VI: Majority Action as Organizational Action - Every act or decision done or made by majority of the members present at a noticed meeting is the act of the organization.
Article VII: Advisory Committee - The Advisory Committee number shall be three (3). Standing members shall include the current Chair, one member from the BSCC and one member from the full membership. The Advisory Committee shall represent the full membership.
Article VIII: Issue Resolution - Unresolved issues within the general meeting may be submitted in writing to the Advisory Committee for resolution.
Article IX: Method of Amending Bylaws - The bylaws may be amended by proposing in writing and reading the change at a general meeting of the membership and then bring the proposed change up for a vote at the next general meeting with a two-thirds majority vote of the attending members.
